About the Department
The Department of Finance, Faculty of Business Studies, University of Dhaka, was established in 1974. It began with B.Com (Hons) and M.Com degrees, moved to the BBA and MBA format in 1994, and has since grown to include evening, executive, professional and research programs.
The Department is committed to meeting the needs of the modern business world, producing executives and professionals with strong skills in finance. Its faculty are actively engaged in research, and its curriculum is updated regularly to keep pace with international standards.

Highlights from the Chairman's message
The Chairman welcomes students to the Department of Finance, which he describes as a leading center of excellence at the University of Dhaka. He traces its growth from B.Com (Hons) and M.Com degrees to the BBA and MBA in 1994, the Evening MBA in 2001 and the Executive MBA in 2022, alongside M.Phil. and Ph.D. programs.
He notes that the programs follow international standards, take a multidisciplinary approach, and are regularly updated. Beyond finance, students build skills in decision-making, communication, organization and managing pressure.
He points to the Department's place within the top 300 in the 2022 QS World Rankings and the strong job-market demand for its graduates, and closes by wishing students success in their future careers.
