About the Department
The Department of Management Information Systems (MIS), Faculty of Business Studies, University of Dhaka, was established in 2004 as a pioneer in information systems management education in Bangladesh.
Students learn how to make information genuinely useful to the people who rely on it, and how to design, run and secure the systems that deliver it. The Department also publishes the biannual Bangladesh Journal of Management Information Systems (BJMIS).

Milestones
- 1999 Concept paper prepared by the Department of Management; Faculty of Business Studies resolves to establish an MIS department
- 2004 Proposal approved by the University; Department of MIS established
- 2005 Professor Dr. Abdul Mannan Choudhury appointed first Chairman (12 April)
