About the Department
The Department of Marketing was established on 1 July 1974 as one of the four founding departments of the Faculty of Commerce, now the Faculty of Business Studies, University of Dhaka. It pioneered marketing education in Bangladesh, starting with 3 faculty members and 49 students.
Today the Department serves more than 1,500 students across its programs. Most of its faculty hold doctoral, MBA or MSc degrees from leading universities in the USA, Canada, the UK, Australia, Germany, New Zealand, Japan and elsewhere in Asia.
Faculty members publish in leading international journals and provide consultancy and executive training. Classrooms are equipped with multimedia, digital boards, internet and Wi-Fi, modern sound systems and a computer lab.

Highlights from the Chairman's message
The Chairman highlights the Department's highly qualified and experienced faculty, its caring approach to students' needs, and its modern classrooms and computer lab. A central goal, he notes, is to develop students' talent for corporate leadership, supported by contemporary courses such as Marketing Analytics and Digital Marketing.
He points to scholarships for meritorious and financially challenged students, and regular seminars, symposiums and workshops with corporate leaders. He also credits the Marketing Alumni Association (MAA), which provides scholarships and internship placements and sponsors the freshers' orientation, job fair and sales fair.
He closes on an optimistic note about the prospects of the Department's graduates.
